    Hey Kadeem,

Okay - the OGR outline as published on the group blog ages back did specify a number of elements of this presentation - the purpose of which was to reassure me (and you!) of your understanding of Freud's principle ideas in regard to the uncanny. I am still seeking that reassurance, as your OGR doesn't include this content!

It looks to me as if you're locking down on your bedroom idea, and I'd suggest that you need to open up the debate again and consider some alternate ideas. It's not that the site of the childrens bedroom isn't useful in your attempt to create an uncanny-like scene, it's just that I wonder at the emphasis on all those game consoles etc. The lights under the bed do add a sense of menace in that they evoke that childhood terror of what's 'under the bed' - but there's a danger here of generating a generic set with moody lighting. I'd like to see much more conceptual development on here, Kadeem - with a greater reference to Freud's categories of uncanny experience as drivers for possible ideas. You're not done yet!

In regard to your essay - yes, I like the idea of you looking at The Innocents - with a wider investigation of the 'uncanniness' of children. Remember, in terms of structuring this assignment effectively, you'll need to introduce and define the idea of the uncanny according to Freud in a clear and specific way (demonstrating your OWN understanding of the concept) BEFORE you begin your analysis of the film. This is why it's very important that you don't just 'wing' the knowledge of Freud's ideas - you need, in fact, to own it!

  2. Hey phil thanks for the feedback. I'll upload the notes on Freud's essay today, and yes I was slightly locked on to that idea of the bedroom but i do have other idea's. I'll post a few more thumbnails, so you can see my thought process, also my unit one character design.
